Permaculture (permanent agri-culture) is a set of practical ecological design principles and methods for human settlements which can be applied to urban, suburban and watershed scales.

Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability and resilience of natural ecosystems. Permaculture principals provide a way of thinking that enables people to establish environments that provide for food, energy, shelter and other material and non-material needs. These principals are rooted in careful observations of natural patterns and can be applied to all climates and a wide variety of cultures from indigenous to technological. Deeply engrained in the permaculture way is the imbedded spirit and health of a place that is a direct result of the care that is put into the land and the care that is put into its people. The returning of surplus directly back into the community also establishes vibrant local cultures and connections among people that have been increasingly isolated over the past decades due to the industrialization and globalization of our culture and economy, namely, the age of the automobile, consumerism and the suburban sprawl tendency away from city cores. Permaculture is a practice that has the ability to produce profound regenerative results in our homes, villages, neighborhoods, towns, and cities.

WHAT IS PERMACULTURE?   WHAT IS REGENERATIVE DESIGN?   WHAT IS LIVING ARCHITECTURE?
Permaculture (permanent agri-culture) is a set of practical ecological design principles and methods for human settlements which can be applied to urban, suburban and watershed scales. Permaculture is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally... As environmental designers in the field and as consumers we need to acknowledge that our design and living practices not only need to do no harm but must initiate regenerative processes to replace the degeneration resulting from our past practices. Simply put, living architecture is the fusion of vegetation and architecture.
In architecture and landscape design there are endless opportunities and great advantages to housing vegetation in new and existing architectural designs.
