PHILOSOPHY
When
we look at the various contexts in which design occurs in today’s world,
we are immediately and abruptly faced with the reality that our natural
world and diversified social structures are fragmented, decaying, and
imbalanced. We, as a people, are rapidly changing, yet we seem to be
missing something—our connection to nature, our self-awareness as
integral components in the natural cycles of the land and living things.
Our thinking, actions, and environments are continually progressing
along with our technological advances, yet we find ourselves further
away from the very living things that we rely upon for our survival and
well-being.
As a designer, I am interested in integrating ecology and architectural
spaces in a way that regenerates, restores, and reawakens our
environments and our inner selves. Rooted in a process of investigation
intended to produce authentic works of design, my method of
environmental design is highly intuitive, restorative, and
conscientious. It is through the rigor and passion of observing,
discerning, and interpreting local patterns, flows, ecosystems, and
culture that places of substance are created.

Drawn to work that reclaims and revitalizes degraded and stagnant
communities, I seek to construct in a manner that is thoughtful and
responsible, growing living resources and creating abundance for people
along with their natural support infrastructures. I wish to continually
design and create spaces that express our uniquely modern living
situation while honoring our indigenous past and present, thus
transforming the way we live into the future.
My design principles are rooted in ecology and I remain deeply
responsive and connected to a design’s context. Whether rural or urban,
I seek to increase vitality, viability, and capacity for a bio-diverse
network of living systems and beings. My commitment rests in restoring
and invigorating habitats, communities, and individuals.
My design approach extends across diverse disciplines and perspectives,
creating an integrative, whole systems approach that embraces
collaboration and collective thinking to reach solutions which are
dynamic, complex, and contextually appropriate. The outcome of a project
directly reflects the exchange of insight and ideas that unfold
throughout the design process between the client and I. From this
process, natural beauty is created in a diverse array of forms,
functions, and healing capacities. - Tracy
